As part of its permanent mission of strategic watch devoted among other things to monitoring the developments on the regional context Morocco, IRES organized February 24, 2014 , a conference debate on the theme " An insight on popular movements in course in Arab countries”, moderated by Mr. Jacques Ould AOUDIA, specialist in political economy of development.

During this conference, attended by experts of economic and socio-political issues of the Arab world,  the emphasis was placed on identifying keys to apprehend  popular movements in Arab countries and the prospects arising in terms of democratic transition and economic and social development. Other aspects have been discussed in depth . It is ,among other things, the place of political Islam in Arab societies, prerequisites needed to reach a compromise in terms of power sharing as well as the influence of external agendas on the overall situation in countries of the "Arab spring".
