Recent developments in the Sahel : issues and challenges for regional and international security
As part of its permanent strategic watch mission and its study program "Global competitiveness and Morocco’s positioning within the globalized system," IRES held September 10, 2012, in collaboration with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, a seminar on the theme : " Recent developments in the Sahel : issues and challenges for regional and international security ".
This seminar, to which took part Moroccan and European experts of geopolitical and security questions, has examined in depth the keys to understanding the security crisis in the Sahel and the main issues it raises at the regional and international levels. The seminar has also emphasized various scenarios related to the region outlook as well as the appropriate approaches to contain security threats and create therefore the basic conditions of economic and social development as a pledge to the stability and the prosperity of the Sahel-Saharan Africa as a whole.
