IRES delegation’s Visit to India
 

A delegation from the Royal Institute for Strategic Studies (IRES) began his visit to India on October 8, 2017, by the invitation of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and the Embassy of India in Rabat. The visit, which overlaps with the commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of India, was intense in terms of meetings and attended by His Excellency Mr. Mohamed MALIKI, Ambassador of Morocco to India.

After being received on October 8, 2017 by Mr Mobashar Jawed AKBAR, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and by Mr. Dnyaneshwar MULAY, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, the Director General of IRES, Mr. Mohammed Tawfik MOULINE gave a lecture at the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA), with whom a Memorandum of Understanding was established, and he also delivered a lecture at the Observer Research Foundation.

During this conference, on Morocco's emergence and its openness to the world, and with the participation of research directors and Indian experts, Mr. MOULINE highlighted the progress that Morocco experienced in the political, institutional, economic, social and environmental dimensions and underlined the challenges that must be addressed by the Kingdom in the future. He recalled the orientations of Morocco's foreign policy and showed the important role it plays in Africa.

Given the fact that Asia has become a pole of the world economy, Mr. MOULINE stressed Morocco's desire to strengthen its cooperation generally with Asian countries and with India in particular.

The Moroccan delegation was received on October 10, 2017, by the General, YVK Mohan, Commander of National Defense College, a training institution for civilian and military elites of India, whose strategic studies deal with scientific, political, industrial and national defense issues.

The mission concluded its visit to Delhi with a meeting with Ms. Riva Ganguly DAS, Director General of ICCR, attended by former ambassadors and Indian personalities.

The IRES delegation subsequently travelled to Mussoorie where Mr. MOULINE held a lecture for the benefit of the students of the National Academy of Administration, a prestigious training institute of Indian senior officials.

A visit was made to Calcutta at Asiatic Society, Institute of Asian Studies and Victoria Memorial

The mission ended with the meeting organized at the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore, which provides high-level training in the biological and engineering sciences. This institute is ranked among the top 50 higher education institutions in the world for research in aerospace and metallurgical engineering
