Her Excellency, Ms. Nathalie DUBE, Ambassador of Canada to Morocco Canada paid a visit to IRES on Wednesday, February 7, 2018, accompanied by a high-level delegation composed of MM. Bill McCrimmon, Political Counselor at the Embassy of Canada, David TRUDEAU, Defense Attaché of Canada to Morocco, Dan SHAVER, Deputy Defense Attaché of Canada to Mauritania, and Maria LO, Deputy Director of World Affairs. This delegation was received by The Director General of IRES, Mr. Mohammed Tawfik MOULINE and Mr. Hassan SAOUDI, Security Expert and associate researcher at IRES.
The discussions focused on security / defense and counter-terrorism issues in Africa, including the situation in the Sahel region. They also focused on the role of Morocco in the fight against terrorism and organized crime, in the perspective of its accession to ECOWAS and how African countries can be ready to face these transnationals threats.
