Mr Amin SAIKAL, Professor of Political Science at the Australian National University and Director of the Centre for Arab and Islamic Studies at the College of Arts and Social Sciences, paid a working visit to the Royal Institute for Strategic Studies on April 4, 2018.
After a presentation of the activities and missions of the two institutions, the discussions held with the Director General of the Institute, Mr. Mohammed Tawfik Mouline, focused on recent developments in the security situation at the international and regional levels, particularly in the Middle East and the perspectives lying ahead in the light of the geopolitical and geoeconomic mutations.
During this meeting, Mr. Mouline highlighted the position of Morocco for developments in the Middle East, that focuses the preservation of the unity of the Arab countries, the political dialogue and the economic partnership as essential levers for resolve conflicts and establish cooperation on a sustainable basis. Mr. Mouline also highlighted the multidimensional security approach of the Kingdom of Morocco, which places human's security at the center of the concerns that challenge the country.
Other aspects were discussed including the experience of Morocco in the religious field and the fight against radicalization, its soft power strategy and spiritual diplomacy under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the role of Morocco as mediator in the African continent and in promoting peace and security at the regional and international levels.
For his part, Mr SAIKAL insisted on hailing the institutional and political reforms implemented by Morocco, making it an example of political, economic, social and spiritual stability in the region, and expressed his wish to develop a communication strategy to spread this model internationally.
