The Royal Institute for Strategic Studies and the Embassy of France in Morocco organized on October 27-28, 2016 in Rabat, an international meeting on radicalization phenomena, which was attended by researchers, politicians, judges, officials from many countries confronted to this challenge.

The meeting, held in a closed circle, was an opportunity to examine the current state of theoretical and practical knowledge on radicalization, to review public policies in Morocco, France and other countries in the region so as to cope with this phenomenon and to sketch the outlines of a renewed discourse, able to deconstruct the ideology advocated by extremist and radical organizations.

Other aspects were discussed including the economic and social factors that fuel the expansion of radicalization, privileged spaces by extremists in terms of indoctrination and recruitment and the mechanisms through which extremist ideology is transformed into violent actions against the State and the society.

On the sidelines of this meeting, a conference open to the public was held October 27, 2016 at 18:00, at the National Library of the Kingdom, in order to promote collective ownership of the issues and challenges posed by the phenomena of radicalization.
