IRES organized May 27th 2015, in collaboration with the Centre for Political and Constitutional Studies of the Ministry of the Presidency (Spain) and the Interministerial Delegation for Human Rights in Morocco, a conference-debate on the theme "The challenges of democracies in a world of rapid change."

The conference was attended by experts in constitutional law and actors of civil society active in the field of human rights. It was devoted to the challenges facing democracies in the light of changing global context. This meeting was, also, an opportunity to review the Moroccan and Spanish experiences in terms of anchoring to values of democracy and protection of human rights, taking into account the specificities of each country.

Other aspects were discussed, including the interdependence between democracy and human rights, the importance to strengthen governance and transparency of institutions to preserve the trust of citizens and the need to prioritize education so as to prepare future generations for the culture of human rights and democratic practice.
