A delegation from the State Council of the People’s Republic of China visits the IRES.
On June 17th, 2019, the Royal Institute for Strategic Studies (IRES) received a delegation of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, chaired by His Excellency Mr. Yang ZHONG-QI, Senior Counselor, and accompanied by His Excellency Mr. Li LI, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China in Rabat.After a presentation of the activities and missions of the IRES and the Counselors’ Office, the discussions focused on crucial issues for the future of humanity, such as climate change and migration. The attendants emphasized the importance of reconsidering the link between nature and economic development and promoting safe, orderly and regular international mobility.Were also discussed the relationships between Morocco and China, and the way to deepen political and economic cooperation. Were thus explored the various ways of strengthening collaboration at the bilateral and multilateral levels. The Chinese delegation acknowledged the pivotal role that the Kingdom could play in the achievement of the Belt and Road Initiative, thanks to Its numerous assets and Its strategic location between Africa, Europe and the Arab world.At the end of this meeting, participants expressed their hope to establish a partnership between IRES and Counselors’ Office of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, in order to mutualize efforts and deepen collaboration in common issues.
