L’Institut Royal des Etudes Stratégiques a organisé, les 4 et 5 décembre 2015 au siège de l’Institut, en partenariat avec le Futures Studies Forum et la direction de la prospective de l'UNESCO, une rencontre internationale sur le thème : « le futur de l’eau et de l’urbanisation en Afrique ».
Cette rencontre, à laquelle ont pris part des experts relevant des pays d’Afrique subsaharienne et de la région MENA, a été consacrée à l'appropriation des outils d'analyse avancée dans le domaine de la prospective et leur application à deux questions structurelles, en l'occurrence la sécurité hydrique et le développement urbain. D’autres aspects ont été abordés, dont notamment les possibilités de coopération entre les institutions représentées en vue de mettre en commun leur expertise dans le domaine des études du futur.
