IRES’ Information and Documentation Centre organized, November 12, 2015, a roundtable dedicated to the presentation and the discussion of the book titled "Geopolitics Wheat: A vital product for global security" elaborated by Sébastien ABIS.
Attended by a panel of senior officials from relevant organisms and experts of issues related to agriculture, the debate highlighted the importance of wheat as a strategic product, the multidimensional character of related challenges related as well as the impact of climate change on cereal crops in general and wheat in particular.
Other aspects were discussed, such as the need to strengthen scientific research in agriculture and to promote technical progress in order to adapt to the dynamics of supply and demand for wheat as well as the urgency to use forward-looking approaches serving as reference to build efficient public policies on food security.
