Brainstorming on Morocco's relations with the European Union in the light of the judgment of the General Court of the European Union dated September 29, 2021
The Royal Institute for Strategic Studies (IRES) organized, on October 13, 2021, a brainstorming session devoted to the analysis of the possible consequences of the judgment delivered by the General Court of the European Union (EU), on September 29 last, annulling the decisions of the Council of the Union " concerning, first, the agreement between the European Union and Morocco amending the tariff preferences granted by the European Union to products of Moroccan origin and, second, the Sustainable Fisheries Partnership Agreement. "
This meeting, which was attended by diplomats, academics and lawyers, is part of IRES's strategic watch mission, particularly on Morocco's external relations. It was an opportunity to put this judgment in its geopolitical context, to understand it from a legal and political viewpoint and to examine options to limit its impacts on the Kingdom's partnership with the European Union.
