  • Morocco-European Union advanced status in the light of new regional developments

As part of its study program "Global competitiveness and positioning of Morocco in the globalized system", IRES held on February 28, 2012, a conference debate, facilitated by Mr. Eneko LANDABURU, Ambassador, Chief of the European Union Delegation in Morocco under the theme: "Morocco-European Union advanced status in the light of new regional developments". During this scientific event, which was attended by some senior public sector officials, university experts and representatives of the private sector, the issues related to bilateral relations between Morocco and the European Union and the potential of their development within the prospects the advanced status were examined. Furthermore, other important aspects such as the European Union foreign policy in the aftermath of socio-political changes in southern Mediterranean countries and the impact of the crisis in the euro zone in terms of shifting regional priorities were highlighted. The debate during this conference focused on the role of various actors in terms of ownership of various reforms envisaged in the roadmap of advanced status, the need to implement a national strategy to make successful the program of regulatory convergence and the importance of rebalancing trade relations between Morocco and the European Union in order to promote their harmonious development with view of the global free trade agreement that will shape the future of Morocco -European Union relations.
