Within the framework of its study program "Global competitiveness and positioning of Morocco in the globalized system", IRES held on May 10, 2012, a conference debate facilitated by Mr. Mustapha Cherkaoui , former Ambassador of Morocco in Nigeria on the theme: " Morocco- Nigeria relations and their development prospects  ".
Attended by former diplomats and experts on African issues, this conference was an opportunity to analyze the evolution of bilateral relations between Morocco and Nigeria from a  strategic point of view and to explore their development prospects taking into account Morocco’s new strategic positioning in Sub-Saharan Africa and the potential weight of Nigeria at regional and international level.

Discussions held at the conference stressed the importance of renovating the regulatory framework governing the bilateral cooperation between Morocco and Nigeria and the opportunity to define priority economic sectors able to form the core of this cooperation, while broadening its spectrum to other important dimensions, such as security and socio-cultural aspects.
