The Social Determinants of Health approach and health equity: towards a new development paradigm

The Royal Institute for Strategic Studies (IRES) organized, at its headquarters in Rabat, on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, jointly with the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, the World Health Organization and the One Health Morocco Association, a day of prospective reflection on the theme "The approach based on the Social Determinants of Health and health equity: towards a new development paradigm".

The objective sought by IRES and its partners, through the organization of this meeting, was to take an overview of the approach based on the social determinants of health and to cross-reference perspectives in order to better understand its contours, as well as the current and future issues inherent to this question.

This Day, which was attended by national institutional actors, senior representatives of the World Health Organization, as well as Moroccan and foreign experts, was presented as a strategic dialogue, aimed at hatching, according to a collective intelligence approach, some innovative ideas, capable of laying the foundations of a prospective vision for the adequate implementation in Morocco of the approach based on the Social Determinants of Health, as well as identifying the levers of change to guarantee equity in health, in light of the High Royal Guidelines aimed at health inclusiveness.
