What future for Syria? What geostrategic impacts for Morocco?

As part of its mission of foresight monitoring, the Royal Institute for Strategic Studies (IRES) organized, on February 26, 2025, a brainstorming session on the theme "What future for Syria? What geostrategic impacts for Morocco? What foreign policy orientations?".
This meeting, attended by a restricted panel of high-level experts in the field of geopolitics, international law, external relations and defense, attempted to identify the new geopolitical dynamics in the Middle East after the rise of opposition to power in Syria and to highlight the challenges of the reconstruction of the Syrian State but also the repercussions on Morocco. It resulted in the formulation of some proposals, particularly on the diplomatic level, to enable the Kingdom to strengthen its positioning in Syria and in the region.
