What levers to strengthen the positioning of Moroccan economic actors in Africa, in the light of Morocco’s return to the African Union?
On April 13, 2017, IRES organized a seminar devoted to assess the reality and the prospects of strengthening Moroccan economic actors positioning in Africa, in the light of Morocco's return to the African Union.
The meeting was facilitated by a panel of representatives from Moroccan groups operating in Africa in some key sectors such as banking and finance, telecom, air transport, tourism, infrastructure and mining as well as institutional bodies in charge of Morocco’s economic promotion abroad and experts on African issues.
The meeting stressed the experience of these groups and the key orientations of their growth strategies, taking into account the opportunities associated to Morocco’s new institutional positioning in Africa.
Other aspects were discussed, particularly the importance to set, on the basis of the Royal Vision, Morocco’s African strategy to serve as a referential to guide the action of the national actors, the opportunity to promote collaborative approaches between Moroccan operators in order to enable an integrated offer to sub-Saharan Africa and the need to reinforce strategic communication on the image of Morocco as well as to deepen knowledge of African realities.
