What prospects for the ongoing sociopolitical transformations in the Arab world ?
As part of its strategic watch mission, the Royal Institute for Strategic Studies organized on Wednesday, September 14th, 2011, a second study day under the theme “What prospects for the ongoing sociopolitical transformations in the Arab world ?”. This study day was moderated by M. Mathieu GUIDERE, Professor of Islamic Studies at the University of Toulouse II and former Director of Research at the Special Military School of Saint-Cyr.
During this scientific event, which brought together experts from different disciplinary backgrounds, the main conclusions of the recent book “Clash of the Arab Revolutions” were discussed in depth. The book provides analytical tools to comprehend the political mutation taking place in each of the Arab League’s member states and then draws up a prospective view of these developments as well as the geopolitical consequences they are likely to generate on both regional and international levels.
Special attention had been paid to the situation in the Maghreb as well as the main stakes and lessons to be drawn for Morocco with view to the current geopolitical upheavals.
