IRES took part in the 25th annual session of the Crans Montana Forum on the theme: "Heading to the South-South: not only a strategy, but a necessity", held in Rabat from 19 to 22 June 2014, under the High Patronage of His Majesty The King Mohammed VI.
At this Forum, Mr. Mohammed Tawfik MOULINE, Director General of the Institute, chaired the work of the plenary session on exploring new ways for a better world integration of Africa, which was attended by three distinguished guests, namely Mr. Blaise COMPAORE, President of Burkina Faso, and Mr. Pierre Nkurunziza, President of Burundi and Mr. Mu’azu Babangida ALIYU, Gouvernor of Niger State (Nigeria) as well as the participation of a high-level panel composed of Ministers and heads of African institutions.
This session, which emphasized the five challenges facing the African continent, namely competitiveness, human development, food security, peace and stability as well as trade and integration into the global economy, was devoted, also, to the examination of the issue of governance of natural resources.. It has highlighted the Moroccan cooperation approach towards Africa and the prospects of its enhancement both on bilateral and regional levels.
