Transition Paths Med 2050

The Royal Institute for Strategic Studies (IRES) organized, on February 4 and 5, 2025 in Tangier, jointly with the Plan Bleu, Regional Activity Center of the Action Plan for the Mediterranean under the United Nations Environment Program, a prospective workshop on the theme: "Transition Paths of the Mediterranean to 2050".

This meeting, which brought together a high-level panel of Moroccan and French experts from various backgrounds, allowed for the crossing of perspectives on the future development of the Mediterranean and to discuss the various scenarios explored in the Med 2050 foresight exercise as well as the plausible transition paths towards a sustainable development of the region.

The Institute agreed with the Plan Bleu that this workshop be organized in Tangier, a Mediterranean city, in order to enrich the Med 2050 foresight report. This initiative, the first step in a series of workshops planned in several countries around the Mediterranean, aims to highlight the vision of the South of the Mediterranean and more particularly that of Morocco, while highlighting the major advances made by the Kingdom in a multitude of fields.
