The Royal Institute for Strategic Studies (IRES) actively participated in the fourth edition of the "Africa XXI" international meeting held in Lisbon on November 23, 2023 and jointly organized by the Friedrich Naumann Foundation (FNF) Madrid and the Institute for Promotion of Latin America and the Caribbean.
Mr. Mohammed Tawfik MOULINE, Director General of IRES, addressed the first session on cooperation in the Mediterranean in the aftermath of the Ukraine war. The session was attended by Ambassadors, representatives from the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, international organizations, African and European Think Tanks, and academic experts.
Mr. MOULINE's speech delved into the energy situation in the Mediterranean basin, addressing long-term challenges. He provided insights into the state of energy cooperation in the region, Morocco's response to the war in Ukraine, and its contribution to achieving energy sovereignty. Proposals were presented to enhance Mediterranean energy cooperation.
